ShPFF Last Call for Submissions

Shanghai, 10th April, 2015 – Last call for ALL entries for the short film competition, the deadline is only 5 days away!

Submission Requirements:
 Films may be fiction, documentary or experimental
 Films should focus on queer Chinese experience (‘Chinese’ may be interpreted as national, ethnic or cultural identity).

We invite filmmakers to submit work which tells Chinese LGBT stories. In a time of rapid change, we are looking for the most innovative and engaging new voices in queer cinema. Submission is free, and we aim to screen every film by Chinese nationals (although we welcome filmmaker’s submissions from all backgrounds). With a panel of industry judges, and a top prize of CNY300,000 through our partner festival, this is one not to miss. Whether you are student, a guerilla filmmaker or first-timer, we want your films!

ShanghaiPRIDE has always included film screenings as part of its cultural program. It goes without saying that visible queer characters and stories on screen contribute enormously to the progress of rights and acceptance for LGBT people. The underground film scene is increasing its traction globally, as smaller filmmakers are invited to participate in events in Europe, Asia and North America, piecing together a new understanding of what queer China is like through cinema art.
