ShanghaiPRIDE Second Annual Rainbow Bike Ride
ShanghaiPRIDE would like to announce that registration for the Rainbow Bike Ride is now open!
This year’s Rainbow Bike Ride will be held on Saturday, May 21st as part of the official warm up for ShanghaiPRIDE in June. Rainbow Bike Ride also marks International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT) when people around the world stand together for equality, respect and love. Six teams of cyclists will represent the six colours of the Rainbow Flag, starting out from every corner of Shanghai to meet at Brownstone, Yongjia Court for an after party. Riding time varies from 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the route. We will equip each team of cyclists with lights of their representative colour and be there to record the moment all six teams flow together to form the Six Coloured Rainbow.
Starting Point and Duration for the Six Teams
- Red Team (Shanghai Indoor Stadium) | 60mins
Enjoy a nighttime view of the South Bund and Huangpu River.
- Orange Team (Lujiazui) | 85mins (including ferry)
Enjoy a nighttime view of the Bund and Lujiazui from both boat and bike.
- Yellow Team (Renmin Avenue) | 45mins
Enjoy a nighttime view of the Former French Concession.
- Green Team (Zhongshan Park) | 45mins
Enjoy a nighttime view of the Former French Concession.
- Blue Team (Jade Buddha Temple) | 30mins
Enjoy a nighttime view of Jade Buddha Temple and the Former French Concession.
- Purple Team (Suzhou Creek) | 85mins
Enjoy a nighttime view of Suzhou Creek and the old streets of Shanghai.
Last year we succeeded in hosting the first Rainbow Bike Ride and this year we have done our best to improve the form and content of the event. Registration is very limited, so please make efforts to sign up early. The registration fee includes a T-shirt and a specialty beverage. All proceeds from the Rainbow Bike Ride will go towards ShanghaiPRIDE 2016’s operating budget.

If you would like to join us but do not have a bicycle, we can provide details of nearby bicycle rental agencies in our wechat group discussion.
For safety reasons, all participants must wear protective gear including helmets. ShanghaiPRIDE and its affiliates are not responsible for any injuries or deaths of participants.
At the end of the Rainbow Bike Ride, please return the bicycle lights to our event organisers.

Important Notices:
This activity is a fundraising event so we do not, for any reason, provide refunds — sorry for the inconvenience!
Please register and donate through the registration website. We will not accept onsite registration on the day of the event.
Your registration will be considered successful when you have received a confirmation email.
An additional email will be sent one week before the event on May 14th, which will include the route map, gathering point, meeting time and other information about your chosen route.
Please note that you are responsible for providing your own bicycle and bicycle lock. The event organisers are not able to provide either the bicycle or bicycle lock.
When we reach our destination at Yongjia Court, there will be volunteers available to look after your bicycle. During the event, however, please look after your belongings. ShanghaiPRIDE and its affiliates are not responsible for any loss ordamage of personal belonging.
