About CINEMQ
Walls are our screens. Rooftops and basements are our cinemas. Queer is our purpose.
CINEMQ is a monthly underground queer short film screening + party series, run by a couple of queers with too much on their mind to sit still for long, screening Chinese and international short films and tributes to queer screen heroes. Inspired by the DIY cinema circuit which already enriches Shanghai’s culture, the series pull together the filthy and gorgeous of queer world cinema, an eclectic mixtape of short films, visuals and music at some of Shanghai’s best venues, bringing films rarely seen before in the city to a new audience.
CINEMQ was launched in 2015 in association with ShPFF and was named as one of Shanghai’s best queer parties by TimeOut magazine. Screenings are always free and open to all. Glitter is required.
