［Register!］ShanghaiPRIDE 2016 – Pride Run

The theme of ShanghaiPRIDE this year is “I Am Me”, which is a celebration of diversity in our beloved city of Shanghai. “I Am Me” is an affirmation that everyone should hold, regardless of your race, gender, sexuality or other forms of identity. But many individuals still struggle with who they are. Having witnessed dramatic improvements over the past few years, ShanghaiPRIDE hopes to revisit the fundamentals of being who we are and staying true to ourselves.

This year, China’s longest-running LGBTQ festival, ShanghaiPRIDE (Pride8), will kick-off with a fun run passing through some of Shanghai’s most iconic sights, sponsored by Nike. Under the theme of “I Am Me”, Nike will bring its #BETRUE global message of diversity to the run. Nike’s #BETRUE is a call to action for runners everywhere to be their most authentic selves and Nike’s belief that if you have a body you’re an athlete.

Runners will start from 6 various locations across Shanghai, representing the 6 colors of the Pride rainbow flag, and finishing at The Langham, Shanghai, Xintiandi 5th level terrace lounge, XTD elevated for complimentary BBQ and colorful performances.Non-Pride runners are welcome to join the Pink BBQ by registering at the door.

Registered runners will receive an official Nike #BETRUE t-shirt and #BETRUE shoelaces, and a generous prize bag which include a Pride8 Pride Run medal, and a Pride8 edition t-shirt.

Upon confirmation of registration, runners will collect the Nike #BETRUE t-shirts and shoelaces at Wunderman Shanghai office. Runners must wear the Nike #BETRUE t-shirts to be allowed to run. Pride8 prize bag will be presented at the Finish line.

Registration fee is RMB150 (suggested minimum donation). All proceeds will go to “Rainbow School” organized by Common Language. Common Language is a community-based non-profit organization established in January 2005. They focus on Chinese communities suffering from oppression based on sexual orientation and gender identity. They educate the general public on diversity issues, aiming to eradicate discrimination and fight for equal rights. Rainbow School integrates awareness of sexual and gender equality into the development of Chinese grassroots organizations and enables queer-identified youth to promote sexual and gender equality awareness. Rainbow School is building an education platform with young people, youth organizations, university faculty members, and NGOs.
