【Recap】ShanghaiPRIDE 2016 Officially Opens!
Shanghai, June 18th – The eighth ShanghaiPRIDE kicked off with a jubilant opening party at The Eight Art Hotel on The Bund. In keeping with this year’s theme “I am Me”, organizers created a party concept inspired by The Wizard of Oz. Guests were treated with over-the-rainbow themed atmosphere and drag performances by House of TBD.
After an inspiring pride speech by key organizers, Alex, Momo, Dino, DJ Sugar, and DJ Will Hsu brought the house down with fantastic performances. During the wonderful breezy night, rainbow flags flew proud as gorgeous models from Rainbow Rabbit ushered in the crowd to celebrate the opening of Pride8. Also, special thanks to Love & Glory and Stoli for their support!
For the whole of ShanghaiPRIDE week, a variety of cultural, sports, and social activities including ShanghaiPRIDE Film Festival, ShanghaiPRIDE Theatre Festival, Trivia Night, LGBTQ Groups Open Day will be held to elevate the LGBTQ community identity, and social visibility and acceptance. Removing the labels, removing the masks, we are all different but we are the same.
