Pride Talk | 2018 Call for Speakers

In just a month, we have received more than 10 applications for Pride Talk speakers,
ranging from high school students to business elites, and from media specialists to NGO organizers.
They come from all over and have very diverse backgrounds and experiences.

On a weekend afternoon this June,
we will gather to listen to their stories, sharing common views as well as differing opinions.

At this year’s Pride Talk,
you might hear about a speaker’s emotional growth,
you might hear from someone bringing LGBTQ+ awareness into their own work or daily life,
or you might hear the story of an NGO leader…

There are many ways to express ourselves in life:
You can join an NGO like ShanghaiPRIDE, as either a volunteer or a participant. You will make friends who share the same dreams and aspirations, and you will enjoy doing something you love.
You can carry out academic research and discover the truth of the words “All differences are the same” amid a vast sea of knowledge.
You can even express your opinions and emotions in your workplace, school, or creations.
This time, you will discover your true self on the Pride Talk stage and encounter ideas that resonate with you.

We are delighted to have more and more people joining our activities.
We are also very touched that there are so many terrific people who support us behind the scenes.
But we are still accepting speaker applications for Pride Talk 2018!
If you want to share your voice onstage or recommend a friend, please let us know.

The theme of this year’s festival is “Our Community, Our Identity, Our Pride.”
It’s also the 10th anniversary of ShanghaiPRIDE!

If you’d like to speak at Pride Talk, please prepare a 20-slide PowerPoint presentation. You will have 20 seconds to talk about each slide, for a total of 6 minutes and 40 seconds.
Topics can include LGBTQ-related experiences, work, personal anecdotes, and interesting ideas and views.

We welcome speakers of all genders and sexual orientations. You may speak in either Chinese or English. We will arrange rehearsals and coaching for all speakers.
