In order to give the audience who are considering watching “Pride” a taste of the performance and to better improve and complete the work, on April 21st, the crew of “Pride” from Qing Yuan Drama Company, invited a select audience to attend a script reading session, and faithfully recorded their comments as follows for your reference.

The contents are true to life, the conflicts are, and the silences are presented well. I don’t know if it’s because it’s just a rehearsal, but some parts of the play seem a little disconnected. The departure of characters can be. Recommendations: Reduce the “cuteness” level of the character “Xiao Lan”, add some lines to create, thus reflect the subsequent conflicts of the play.

The storyline was slightly top-heavy. Most of the character development and conflict all happened in the beginning and there was not much collision in the plot in the end. The play feels depressing, but it’s a truly realistic depiction. The dialogue is a bit stale and sometimes the actors talk a little too quickly to be heard properly. The structure of the plot is really good and full of content. The overarching theme is deep and profound. Looking forward to the official performance.

“Xiao Gang’s lines almost feels as though he is reading from a script. The part about “Lili” cheating also felt a bit awkward to me. Other than that, I really liked it! There were many meaningful topics being discussed, especially the part about the livestreaming, the true state of the gay community, and how to communicate better with the society as a whole. I also hope that they can strengthen the presentation of the story in the later parts.

Some lines in the beginning of the play sounded a little too stylistic, not really like actual conversations. The development and climax of the story are great, but there can be more display and eruption of emotions from the interaction between the characters.
Synopsis
This is a story about four young people in a fairly conservative small city. Their pride gathered them together for a festival of their own. As the day approaches, they start to find that the difficulties are everywhere. Although everyone is eager for equality and liberty they also suffer from many varieties of inequality. There’s still a long way to The Rainbow. Will they keep going?
