Gulugulu Badminton Championship

ShanghaiPRIDE is welcoming 2019 by once again joining forces with the GULU Badminton Club! The badminton match is themed “Vitality with Pride.” This theme highlights an inclusive community by inviting our LGBTQ+ neighbors to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

All participants will receive a mini bottle of imported Belgium honey from sponsors and a ShanghaiPRIDE rainbow badge.
There is a mixed-double option this year; rewards and sponsored prizes will be given to the first, second, and third place players. Besides the game, there are also many other activities. We look forward to your participation!

How to enroll
Date: Saturday 30-Mar
Time: Sign in at 9:30am before the selection lottery. Games start at 10:00am sharp.

Participation Eligibility: Amateur players who embrace the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community
Participation fee: 50 RMB per pair
Total participants: 16 pairs for Women’s Double, 8 pairs for Mixed Double

Scoring
For Women’s Double:
Each team will be grouped into A, B, C, and D, with four teams in each group.
The match consists of one game of 15 points; the one with two points ahead is considered the winner; the top two teams will proceed into the quarterfinals.
The knockout round repeats the process in the group match, with four groups in the semi-final.
The semi-final consists of three games of 15 points; the one with two points ahead is considered the winner of the round. Players will strive for two wins out of three games. The top scoring team will be regarded as the ultimate winner. The ranking of the first three teams will be decided based on points.
The group make-up will depend on the player lottery.
For Mixed Double:
The 8 pairs will be divided into two groups of four to play one game of 15 points; the one with two points ahead is considered the winner.
The semi-final consists of three games of 15 points; the one with two points ahead is considered the winner of one round while winning two rounds in the total of three will be regarded as the ultimate winner. The ranking of the first three teams will be decided by points.

Other
1.GULU Badminton Club and ShanghaiPRIDE are both community platforms. All registration fees are used to pay the cost of renting the venue. All the judges, workers, equipment, and prizes are all provided by the organizers and sponsors.
2. The organizers are not responsible for any loss of property, injury, or harm during the event.
3. The enrollment will not accept new registration once all teams are full. Conversely, the organizers will reserve a set amount of vacancies to fill in the slots left by teams that forfeit. (The organizer will refund teams that fail to get a spot after the event.)
4. Transportation: 801 Shangnan Rd (Qingliu Middle School Badminton Gym). Take exit 2 at Yaohua Road Station of subway line 7 and line 8. Car parking is FREE in the interior parking lot in the school after registering with the guards near the entrance.
