ShanghaiPRIDE returns this year with the main visuals featuring our community in collaboration with a global fashion brand. Each year, we document the diversity and beauty of the LGBTQ community via photography and showcase their interpretation of the theme.

This year, together with fashion brand Coach, we captured dynamic moments of freedom and love as portrayed by our models. Let us take a look at how they Share the Pride with the world.

Bohai: “I’ve been very lucky and never had to spend any time in the closet. From high school to the workplace, my family and friends accept me with open arms unconditionally. However, I deeply understand the struggles in my community, the LGBTQ community, is going through. So, I’ve been working hard and living my life, hoping which would encourage my LGBTQ fellows to believe that our lives can be full of wonder and possibilities and show the world who we really are. You and I are different, but we can Share the Pride together.”

Erica: “At first, I was unsure of my identity, and went through a phase of label confusion as well. But thanks to the friends around me who showed me support and understanding, they introduced me into the LGBTQ community and helped me find my truest self. The way I am right now is my most comfortable and confident self. I want to Share the Pride with the world as the person I am now.”

Evie: “To me, ‘Share the Pride’ means our relatively isolated community is now taking a momentous step into mainstream society. This encompasses not only a great deal of courage but also requires self-awareness and acceptance, as well as a mature and sustainable community. Since my first involvement with LGBTQ community work, I have witnessed how the community has evolved beyond its own boundaries and showed our community’s existence to the greater world around us. I am extremely proud of that.”

Justine: “Diversity has always been a key trait of our community: not only does it portray us at our truest selves, but it also shows our acceptance to one another. ‘Share the Pride’ means the same thing to me. Our community is diverse, changing, and full of colour; I wish to show the world where our identity comes from, how strong our community is, and how diverse we are.”
