Recap | Voice of China LGBT & Unreasonable Woman
Anomaly Shanghai hosted the second screening day of ShPFF 2019; the audience enjoyed a beautiful afternoon with three Chinese Short Films, including Breakfast, EEL, and Floss as well as a documentary of the LGBTQ community in China–Voice for China LGBT.
The directors of EEL and Floss sent their best wishes to the ShanghaiPRIDE Film Festival via video messages and shared their behind the scenes stories.
Duan and Tao, two of the main characters in the documentary, Voice for China LGBT, shared the film creation process. The documentary explored the topic of coming out, and they shared their opinions. They believe that coming out means be true to yourself!
The documentary was released in Japan and widely acclaimed. It gave people a different view of the LGBT community in China.
After a short break, Mr. Remco van Wijngaarden, the Consul General of the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Shanghai, made a short speech. Mr. Wijngaarden affirmed the contribution made by ShanghaiPRIDE in past years. He said ShanghaiPRIDE had played a model role for other LGBTQ Groups in China.
The Netherlands presented three excellent short films: M/F/X, High Tide, and Double Lucky. Two directors expressed their excitement about having the opportunity to share their work with the Shanghai audience via video messages.
The documentary about the legendary female boxer, Unreasonable Woman – Michele Aboro was also screened; the film is a production by Anomaly Shanghai.
Michele Aboro, six-time undisputed boxing world champion, shared her experience when she first participated in ShanghaiPRIDE 8 years ago. She was amazed by the uniqueness. Michele also shared her passion for boxing and gender topics in the sports field with the audience.
The screening of the day ended with a series of International Short Films, including Time & Again, Eva Minus Candela, Framing Agnes, The Orphan, and Lionhood.
