Recap | Be True to Who You Really Are
On June 14, the ShanghaiPRIDE Film Festival was held at the British Centre, where we had four short films presented by Australia, including Sammy the Salmon, Bloom, Black Lips, and This Perfect Day. After the short films, the Netherlands presented the documentary Galore.
Before the films were screened, the Public Diplomacy Manager of the Australian Consulate General Shanghai, Ms. Lucy Du expressed her welcome and best wishes for ShanghaiPRIDE. Also, she highly affirmed the support which ShanghaiPRIDE provided the LGBTQ community for the past 11 years.
The Director of This Perfect Day, Lydia Rui made it to the screening. After the screening of the four Australian short films, she had an interesting discussion with the audience, sharing her unique experience of making queer films, which covered her story with her father, the selection of music in the film, and more.
Before the screening of the Dutch documentary Galore, the Consul General of the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Shanghai, Mr. Remco van Wijngaarden voiced his strong support for ShanghaiPRIDE and had a warm interaction with the audience.
After the screening, the directors of the film, Lazlo Tonk and Dylan Tonk, and the main character, Lady Galore shared their interesting experience as it is their first time in Shanghai, and also behind the scenes stories during the making of the film. At the same time, they also expressed their full support to the LGBTQ community and encouraged everyone to be true to who they really are, the move forward for themselves with lots of love.
