As China’s longest-running Pride festival, ShanghaiPRIDE is an annual celebration of diversity aimed at increasing societal awareness of the LGBTQ community. The 12th annual ShanghaiPRIDE runs from June 12-21, 2020 with a new theme of “敢晒，敢骄傲 Raise the Pride.” Through a weeklong series of community events ranging from an art show and film screenings to forums, talks and parties, we hope to encourage self-acceptance and inspire individuals throughout Shanghai and China to Raise the Pride and let their colors fly free.

What is ShanghaiPRIDE?
ShanghaiPRIDE is China’s longest running Pride festival, a celebration of diversity that has been hosted annually in Shanghai since 2009. ShanghaiPRIDE is organized and run by volunteers, with the support of individuals, media, businesses, and foreign consulates. We aim to raise awareness and visibility, and to promote self-acceptance and societal acceptance for the LGBTQ community through sports, cultural, educational, and social activities. We also encourage the community and partners to support LGBTQ-related projects and initiatives. ShanghaiPRIDE promotes cross-cultural exchange, engaging with the local community as well as with LGBTQ festivals across the globe.
In 2014, ShanghaiPRIDE received Time Out Shanghai magazine’s “Shanghai Hero” award. In 2018, ShanghaiPRIDE organizers were awarded “Best Event Organizers” in Eastern China by Huodongxing. We have also been featured in global news media, including The Economist, CNN, Wall Street Journal and China Daily.
