Our models have something to say!

Last week, ShanghaiPRIDE released the 2020 Pride12 official campaign that were created with TBWA!

This year, we invited five friends from the community to shine bright, show their confidence, and Raise the Pride for us!

I am a free-lance photographer. Although it took me almost a decade to accept my gay identity, I am extremely fortunate for my family and friends’ support.

This is my third year participating in ShanghaiPRIDE, and I’ve captured a lot of wonderful moments. All such moments are a great testimony of Pride.

Raise the Pride also happens to be my very genuine thought. Gradually, I discover that this minority identity helps me better understand the world and myself. Isn’t it a great gift?

From volunteering for the Rainbow Bike Ride two years ago to modeling for this year’s ad campaign, I’ve been a part of ShanghaiPRIDE for three years.

Raise the Pride represents me as a person just like another because for me, there’s nothing to hide. My friends also know that I cannot pretend to be a straight person for my entire life; I do not wish to pretend intentionally. All I wish, in this life, is to love freely.

When I was first posting photos of both of us on my WeChat moments, others might think that we are just two girls who happen to be very close friends. Nonetheless, after many pictures of rainbow from Pride, my friends finally realized that ‘wow, you actually like girls.’

The good thing is, all of my friends tell me that, ‘no matter which gender you are attracted to, you are my friend because of who you are, and the rest does not matter.’

A lot of things cannot be hidden for someone like me. To me, Raise the Pride means living in the most comfortable, right, and proud way as much as possible. If you achieve the state of not resisting yourself, then you can be yourself at ease and live a happy life.

To be proud or not to be proud? Nobody should feel proud for any certain identity, but one should be proud of the unique existence of themselves.

From female friends to a couple, from ordinary friends to mutual lovers… Regardless, can’t we just have feelings without considering genders?

The most important thing for girls is self-confidence. The meaning of Raise the Pride is that, if you think it is, then it is, and don’t overthink.

This coming June, we will also launch a digital campaign based on “Raise the Pride.” We will be giving out Pride souvenirs to eligible participants. Stay tuned for more information. We look forward to your participation!
