GUEST SPEAKERS

SAM

Sam is the Founder of YUMMYM, Vice President of Division of Reproductive Health under CHCA, Vice President of China Health Association, and sex expert of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. She’s also awarded with the “BBC 100 WOMEN” in 2018.

Sam’s job is to transform a woman’s pleasure principle and reignite couples’ relationships. She has found that due to the lack of sex education, women tend to play the pleasing role in a relationship, which results in roughly 70% women never experiencing a good pleasure. She believes women should also have control over their bodies. Therefore, in 2015, Sam founded YUMMY and has empowered over 2 million women ever since. What she has done is groundbreaking and she will share the stories in details at Pride Talk.

Rae is 31 years old and an educator in Shanghai. She began transitioning two years ago and came out to her family last year. Rae has spent the past year learning about herself and discovering her passions. She has rediscovered her love for writing and theatre. Through this time of reflection and self-discovery she has allowed herself to connect with various groups in Shanghai that share her interests. She hopes to take time in the future to continue advocating for LGBT+ community and bringing awareness to their issues through her writing.

DAI NASTY 戴黄后

Shanghai’s underground queer world is the home of Beijing drag queen Dai Nasty. She is a DJ, musician, visual designer, and a member of the queer cinema collective CINEMQ.

In the global LGBT+ community movement, queer art culture serves as a carrier of queer theory and battle. In the process of becoming mainstream, it has repeatedly promoted the public’s understanding and acceptance of the LGBT+ community spirit. Underground queer culture has its nature and attitude of being historical, diverse, and pioneering. This also urges the queer community to constantly examine and introspect their own inclusiveness while embracing themselves. Let’s chat with drag queen Dai Nasty, one of the organizers of Shanghai’s underground queer culture. In her opinion, how do these colorful cultures awake the new generation of community consciousness? How does the diversity and inclusiveness of underground queer culture affect the development of local queer culture and communities?

The online session will be on 15-June 7:00PM (China Time).
