The Pride Art Team has decided to postpone Pride Art 2020, which was initially scheduled to be held 12-21 June, to August because of COVID-19 preventive measures. This is not the end of the rainbow and only a slight pause as we try to figure out the best plan forward.

ShanghaiPRIDE Film Festival 2020 Postponed

The ShanghaiPRIDE Film Festival Team has decided to postpone ShanghaiPRIDE Film Festival 2020, which was initially scheduled to be held 14-21 June, because of COVID-19 preventive measures. This is not the end of the rainbow and only a slight pause as we try to figure out the best plan forward. The team is working hard to organize screenings later this year in Shanghai. After every storm comes some sunshine, and this international crisis has allowed us to look into scheduling online screenings and discussions. We hope that our LGBTQ community will also be able to support us in offering smaller offline screenings.

What comes to mind when you hear Shanghai? Is it the vibrant skyscrapers at Lujiazui? Or the nostalgic and elegant Bund area? Or perhaps, the lively lanehouses colouring the street with their hangers and laundry tools?

That’s right! The creative folks at TBWA have made a clever use of the pun of this year’s theme:  turning old lanes and unique architecture into our canvas and putting up a rainbow to Raise the Pride!

That is why ShanghaiPRIDE, China’s longest-running annual Pride Festival, is excited to announce that Pride12 is slated for June 12-21, 2020. Our theme this year – “敢晒,敢骄傲 Raise the Pride” – reflects our commitment to asserting our identities and daring to let our true colors fly free. In a time when our world can feel increasingly divided, we hope to focus on what unites us — love, friendship, community, and Pride.

2020 Pride Open Day: Call for Groups!

ShanghaiPRIDE Pride Open Day (formerly, LGBTQ Groups Open Day) is back!

Since 2014, LGBTQ groups from across China and nearby regions have come together with one common goal and voice. Pride Open Day aims to bring together LGBTQ communities specialized in different fields of work and services to provide a platform for discussions and collaborative work to increase LGBTQ visibility and acceptance. Every year, over 30 community groups get together to set up exhibits and discuss community engagement projects. It is a fabulous event that’s not to be missed!
