Last weekend, ShanghaiLGBT did themselves proud by throwing their best Halloween Pub Crawl yet and turning the weekend into a spooky, sexy, deliciously drunken affair.

Party buses shuttled almost 200 dance-happy, costumed party-goers around to a series of gay-friendly bars and clubs between Friday the 31st and Saturday November 1st, with games, contests, and – best of all – free Stoli vodka shots galore passed around the buses. Friday’s bus set sail from Vbar and went on to take about 60 people to seven different bars, including Hunter Bar, Asia Blue, Lollipop, Eddy’s, Rice Bar, and 390, ending the night at glitzy gay club Shanghai Studio, where the best costume prizes were given out. Winning costumes went to a Chinese zombie, a set of phantoms, and a banana.

The Pub Crawl switched things up on Saturday, starting the night’s shenanigans at Hunter Bar and taking two full buses of 120 pub crawlers to each of the seven other bars. By the time the buses pulled up at 390, the final stop of the night, partiers were happy, raucous, and dancing in the aisles, and piled out to take the dance party inside. Saturday’s best costume prizes were awarded to a Native American chief, a pair of Pocahantas’, a tree with monkeys, a Cleopatra, and an oversized Minion.

On the morning of September 27th at about 9:40am, a group of us from the ShanghaiPRIDE volunteer team gathered at the Oriental Sports Center subway exit to start our preparations for the Color Run. The Color Run was a great opportunity for us to participate in a healthy lifestyle and most importantly contribute to the Color with our community rainbow. We helped each other attach our numbers, carefully affixed some rainbow tattoos on our arms and faces, dawned a rainbow wig and draped rainbow flags on our backs, and finally a team full of high rainbow spirits was born!

From June 9th to mid-July, American Apparel will be showing our support to the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual and Transgender (LGBT) community with exclusive pan-Asian window displays. China will be displaying their windows from June 13 to 30 only.

The pro LGBT displays will be featured in China’s Sanlitun and Joy City mall stores, Japan’s Shibuya Women’s Store, and in Korea’s Myungdong and Hongdae stores. The windows will be centered around two key visual LGBT symbols– the pink triangle and a rainbow color scheme.MORE…

On the Open Day, not only will you witness some exclusive performances, you will also be able to get in touch with a variety of organizations range from business, media, social network, hobbies, schools, education and other comprehensive groups. What is more, there will be exciting live games, exquisite and creative souvenirs, volunteer recruitment and social network activities waiting for you!

During ShanghaiPRIDE week, we will host a sharing session with our community. It is a big step. Our goal is for you to leave more informed about individuals, organizations and groups who are putting much effort against a variety of issues. Some of them are insufficient funding for HIV/AIDS, ideological restrictions on prevention, and persistent stigmas and discrimination. While attending this panel discussion, you will learn how local and global organizations are combating the issues, fearlessly, with the wisdom needed to fight the epidemic and how to provide for those who are living with the virus. “Information can bring choices and choices bring power – educate yourself about your options and choices. Never remain in the dark of ignorance”.
