Queer Talks – Self and Community Awareness
A discussion on the holistic wellbeing of your community and yourself, both physically and mentally. We have invited 3 wonderful speakers: Liu Shi (China AIDS Walk Organizer; Gay Games Silver Medallist), Olivia Chiu (The Clinic Psychologist) and Nate Balfanz (American Medical Centre Psychologist). Queer Talks (QT) is a discussion-based bi-monthly bilingual event providing a safe space to LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies in the community to, share stories. ShanghaiPRIDE 2016 Official Opening Party
The eighth installment of ShanghaiPRIDE kicks off with a jubilant opening party at The Eight Art Hotel on The Bund. In keeping with this year’s theme “I am Me,” organizers have developed a party concept inspired by The Wizard of Oz. Head there for over-the-rainbow themed performances and raffle prizes.

Countdown to ShanghaiPRIDE 2016, June 17-26
Shanghai, June 1, 2016—The final countdown to Shanghai’s eighth annual Pride festival is underway, with 10 days of cultural, social and educational events slated for June 17-26. Pride8 will feature the theme “生为平常 I Am Me” – an “affirmation that everyone should hold, regardless of gender, sexuality or other forms of identity,” says ShanghaiPRIDE Director Raymond Phang. “Having witnessed dynamic movements over the past year, this year’s ShanghaiPRIDE hopes to revisit the fundamentals of being who we are and staying true to ourselves.”
The Pride8 multimedia theme campaign launched earlier this month features a series of visuals highlighting members of the LGBTQ community and their diverse identities, produced in collaboration with Wunderman Shanghai. In addition, a three-minute ShanghaiPRIDE 2016 video further exploring this year’s theme will be released one week before the festival, with teasers posted every Tuesday and Friday on ShanghaiPRIDE’s online platforms. Event Recap: CINEMQ11 – HORROR
May 26 – Don’t dream it, be it. CINEMQ was back on Thursday for a night of absolute pleasure with a tribute to The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Fans of the cult classic film are known for their outrageous costumes, and the screening was packed with high heels, high eye shadow and fishnets. CINEMQ co-founder Matthew Baren remixed the film to tell the tragedy of Dr. Frank N. Furter, alongside kinky-fabulous short films. Afterparty tunes were courtesy of Mau Mau (Co:Motion) at Elevator. CINEMQ returns June 16th.

Event Recap: ShanghaiPRIDE 2016 Rainbow Bike Ride
In conjunction with International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT), and following the launch of ShanghaiPRIDE 2016 theme and ad campaign, this year’s pre-Pride Rainbow Bike Ride kicked off at 7pm on 21-May. Rain did not dampen the spirits of over 60 cyclists to ride the full journey across Shanghai to form the six-colored Pride rainbow flag.

Six cycling teams each equipped with lights representing a color of the rainbow flag (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple) started from six major landmarks across Shanghai (Shanghai Stadium, Lu Jiazui, Renmin Avenue, Zhongshan Park, Jade Buddha Temple, and Suzhou River). The teams cycled across the city passing by the bustling night scene with pride and purpose to finally converge at Yongjia Court, Xujiahui, to signify diversity and unity in harmony.
